Michael built a new arbor at Mama's house

Mama and Daddy had scuppernong and muscadine vines in the back yard for years and years--since they had their house built in 1958. The supporting structure had just about fallen down, so Michael, along with Willie Battle, her yard man, and our twin boys Robert and Philip, tore the rest of it down and built a new arbor. Now we are going to look for new vines.

Kakki is coming home

My daughter Kakki is coming home from her teaching job in Korea.  Here she is with my mother, Feb 2010, before she left last year.  We are looking forward to having her back with us.

To begin where I am (apologies to Ceslaw Milosz)

Here is a new venture, putting down some of my thoughts on a blog, at the behest of my dear sister Cindy. Our middle sister Mary Jane has the same beginning to her blog as I have for this one of mine:  Cindy made me do it!
I enjoy reading others' blogs and my family has urged me to do this, too. Here will be another way to keep up with me and my family.
We consist of my husband Michael and myself, our ten children plus two sons-in-law: Esther and Greg Norman, Kakki, Jimmy, Manny, Samantha and Nathan Mlot, Margaret, Joey, Susan, Robert, and Philip.
I really enjoy reading the blogs of ministers and theologians and essays of social commentary.
Another favorite mental activity is reminiscing, so I will make an attempt to tell some family history with this blog.
